Siaya Governor James Orengo has called on the teachers to take advantage of their numerical strength and demand representation at the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
“You are a strong political movement, you must take advantage of this and demand to have your representatives at the commission for better representation,”
He also noted that other commissions have representatives and that has played a crucial role in ensuring smooth running of affairs.
“We have the Parliamentary Service Commission where some elected members of parliament sit, we also have the Judicial Service Commission where practising advocates sit. Why then can’t we have teachers at the TSC?”
Teachers have a numerical advantage, in fact as teachers, you are a huge political movement.
He also noted that the teachers who should sit at the commission must be those serving.
“You should not have retirees representing you at the commission. They must be teachers who are active in the service,” said the governor.
The Siaya boss was addressing the Kenya Primary School Heads Association (KEPSHA) meeting at Siaya Institute of Technology.
