TRANS NZOIA: Trans Nzoia Governor, George Natembeya, remains steadfast in his commitment to the TAWE movement, aimed at combating political divisions and fostering unity in the Western region. Natembeya, a former Rift Valley administrator known for his resilience, vows to counter what he perceives as political deceit and manipulation.
Expressing concern over the fragmentation within the larger Abaluhya Community, Natembeya attributes it to the machinations of a few self-serving politicians. His rallying cry for unity resonates strongly with local residents and leaders alike, elevating his political stature in the region.
Natembeya points out the sluggish development pace experienced by Western Kenya since the advent of multi-party democracy in 1992, contrasting it with the cohesion and progress observed in other communities across the country. He underscores the need for collective action and solidarity to propel the region forward.
The TAWE movement, predominantly aligned with the Azimio faction, gains momentum in Western Kenya, posing a formidable challenge to established political figures like Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula. Natembeya challenges the notion of the “Number 3” position in government, emphasizing the need for tangible progress over mere numerical representation.
In a bold stance against traditional political narratives, Natembeya dismisses the significance of hierarchy within the government, citing past instances where Western Kenya failed to benefit despite occupying influential positions. His candid remarks resonate with constituents disillusioned by empty promises and political rhetoric.
In the 2022 general elections, support for Azimio prevailed in Busia, Vihiga, Kakamega, and Trans Nzoia, signaling a shift in political dynamics within the region. With most elected lawmakers aligning with the Azimio la Umoja outfit, Natembeya’s vision for unity gains momentum as he seeks to usher in a new era of progress and prosperity for Western Kenya.
