Somber mood as Sgt John Kinyua laid to rest in Kirinyaga.

In the serene embrace of Kirimunge village in Kirinyaga County, a solemn atmosphere enveloped the air as the community bid farewell to the late Sgt. John Kinyua.

His departure, tragically intertwined with the recent loss of CDF Gen. Francis Ogolla, cast a shadow over the village. Just a week prior, the nation mourned as Gen. Ogolla was laid to rest, a poignant reminder of the fragility of life.

But amidst the somber procession, tales of Sgt. Kinyua’s selflessness and compassion emerged, painting a vivid picture of a man who dedicated his life to serving others. Described by friends and family as a beacon of hope in Kirimunge, Sgt. Kinyua’s legacy of kindness and generosity resonated deeply with all who knew him.

The events leading to this sorrowful day unfolded tragically in the North Rift, a region plagued by the relentless grip of banditry and insecurity. A routine mission turned fatal as a military chopper, carrying Gen. Ogolla and nine other officers, plummeted to the ground in a devastating crash.

President William Ruto’s solemn announcement echoed across the nation, delivering the heart-wrenching news of the loss of Gen. Ogolla and his comrades. The names of the fallen officers, including Sgt. Kinyua, etched in the annals of history as heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country.

As Sgt. Kinyua was laid to rest, the echoes of his benevolent spirit reverberated through Kirimunge village, a testament to the profound impact of a life lived in service to others. Though their physical presence may have departed, their legacies endure, lighting the path for generations to come.
