Two bodies retrieved from Kitengela after rivers broke banks.

Two bodies were recovered from flooded seasonal rivers in Kitengela today as the search for reported missing persons continue.

Heavy rains have been battering Kenya and other East African countries, causing houses to be submerged. This tragedy follows closely after another in Maahi Mahiu, where at least 50 people lost their lives.

The intense downpour uprooted trees and destroyed homes along the Nakuru-Kiambu county border. Residents recount a frantic night, with efforts focused on rescuing people from the raging floods and digging them out of the mud.

Among the most affected were women, the elderly, and children who were unable to flee quickly when the disaster struck at midnight.
