Woman who threw herself and her daughter into River Nyamindi have been retrieved, search for Ukwala woman enters third day.

The body of a woman who tragically jumped into the overflowing River Nyamindi with her five-year-old daughter strapped to her back has been recovered and taken to the mortuary.

This incident, which occurred on Saturday, sent shockwaves through the community, leaving many deeply troubled. The rising number of such cases, particularly involving young women, has sparked widespread concern on social media platforms.

Kirinyaga East sub-county police boss Johnson Wachira has assured that investigations are underway. “The investigations are ongoing into the matter, and we shall update you accordingly,” he stated.

Meanwhile, in Sigweng Karuoth Location, Ukwala Location in Ugenya, efforts continue to locate the body of an elderly woman 51 who reportedly leaped into the overflowing River Nzoia.

The woman identified as Irene Apondi did the unthinkable on Saturday May 5.

The search, now in its third day, commenced after she had a domestic dispute with her husband and subsequently took the drastic step.
