Hypocrisy in ODM party is stinking and chocking, Mark Nyamita.

Mark Nyamita, Member of Parliament for Uriri, has strongly criticized the ODM party, accusing them of hypocrisy and failure in fulfilling their mandate. Nyamita, who has faced criticism for meeting with President William Ruto shortly after the election, didn’t hold back in his criticism.

His remarks came in response to his suspension by the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) over allegations of involvement in violence in Migori County. Recently, Nyamita and Governor Ochilo Ayako have been embroiled in a public dispute, prompting the NEC to summon them to Nairobi. Both Nyamita and Ayako are members of the Orange party.

Nyamita explained in a press release that due to late communication, he was unable to attend the summons in Nairobi.

In a press release, Nyamita stated, “At the time of the communication, I was in Meru for an official parliamentary assignment, which prevented me from being present at the Orange house.

No virtual link

He further elaborated, “In an effort to engage with the party, I reached out to the Executive Director, Mr. Oduor Ongwen, who assured me of arranging a virtual meeting.”

Nyamita continued, expressing his frustration: “Despite my attempts, I was unable to obtain the necessary link to attend the party’s meeting.” Subsequently, the meeting proceeded without his participation, and he later received a communiqué informing him of his suspension—a decision reached unanimously by the NEC.

The lawmaker condemned the decision, labeling it hypocritical and self-serving.

“Accused of violence in Uriri, I wasn’t there; everyone knows who’s really to blame, playing politics with violence. It’s disappointing the party backs him,” said Nyamita.

“I wish the party focused on governance, not suspending us. I feel let down, betrayed,” he added.

Also at the meeting were Dr. Ayako and Peter Masara, both at odds despite being in the same party. Sources say Orange Party leader Raila Odinga resolved their dispute.
