Bizarre act after a man entered Bondo Catholic church and defecated on Holy statue

Police officers from Bondo Police Station have initiated a manhunt for a suspect who allegedly trespassed onto the premises of St. Andrews’ Bondo Catholic Church and defiled the statue of Jesus Christ.

Reverend Father Edwin Obudho of the parish reported the incident to Bondo Police Station, condemning the act as utterly abhorrent.

Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo stated that Father Obudho reported the disappearance of the statue of Jesus Christ, which had been situated on the church altar alongside the Holy Eucharist, on Tuesday, June 4th, 2024.

After a thorough review of CCTV footage, it was revealed that an individual dressed in a black and white striped shirt and black trousers gained entry to the church premises around 6:30 p.m. while other worshippers were engaged in prayer.

“Following the CCTV analysis on June 7th, 2024, it was determined that a stranger, wearing a black and white striped shirt and black trousers, entered the church hall at approximately 6:30 p.m., during the evening prayers,” stated a police incident report.

The suspect waited until the congregants who were praying left the church, then proceeded to the area where the portrait was displayed and removed it.

“He then ascended to the upper gallery until the remaining congregants had departed, at which point he descended to the hall, removed the portrait of Jesus Christ, and carried it to the upper floor gallery. He then removed his trousers and defecated on the face of the portrait of Jesus Christ. After completing this act, he covered his excrement with tissue paper and placed the soiled portrait under a church bench before leaving,” the report elaborated.

The motive behind this disturbing and bizarre act remains unknown, and the police are continuing their investigation.
