Former Liverpool player Georginio Wijnaldum has lavished praise on the new manager, Arne Slot, asserting that he is an ideal fit for the position.

Wijnaldum, who made nearly 200 appearances over five seasons under the leadership of Jürgen Klopp, expressed confidence that the former Feyenoord coach would excel with the Reds.

During his time at Liverpool, Wijnaldum played a pivotal role in securing four prestigious trophies: the Premier League, Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, and UEFA Super Cup. Following his tenure at Liverpool, Wijnaldum moved on to Al-Attifaq in Saudi Arabia.

The Dutch player compared Mr Slot to the legend Jose Morinho and Mr Klopp himself.

“I trained at Feyenoord for a few more days at the beginning of this season and there I saw how Slot worked. That was of a very high level, I thought that was really great. I can compare him to Klopp and Mourinho and then I say Slot is of the same level. Yes, he’s coming into a completely different world now, that’s just the case. But that doesn’t mean he can’t do what he did at Feyenoord there?” he said in an interview.

Mr Slot has plenty of time to reorganize the team before commencement of next season.
