Why I did not board the same plane with President Ruto, Opiyo Wandayi

Ugunja’s Member of Parliament has reiterated that he did not travel on the same plane as President William Ruto to the United States.

The assembly minority leader clarified that he opted for a different flight, deliberately avoiding the chartered plane that the president boarded.

“I chose not to board the same plane because my conscience would not allow me, so I opted to take another airline via Qatar to and from Kenya,” stated Mr. Wandayi.

Mr. Wandayi, along with other ODM leaders, was part of the delegation whose visit sparked questions about whether the opposition had begun collaborating with the government.

“Many speculations arose regarding my visit to the US with the president some time ago. It’s important to note that the opposition received a special invitation from President Joe Biden himself,” emphasized the Ugunja lawmaker.

He continued, “The Head of State’s visit to the US involved engagements with the Senate and the Congress. The US government recognized the importance of inclusivity, ensuring that both Republicans and Democrats were present. Similarly, the Kenyan parliament needed representation from both the majority and minority.”
