MIGORI: Police at Isebania Police Station in Migori County intercepted a shipment of cannabis worth Sh18 million earlier today.
The Officer in Charge of the station, Chief Inspector Meshack Mulwa, received intelligence regarding 12 sacks of the prohibited drug being smuggled from neighboring Tanzania and led a successful operation to seize it.
Investigations revealed that the mastermind behind the large consignment was Joseph Sabora.
“OCS Isebania Police station C.I Meshack Mulwa got information from our counterparts that there was a well-known drug trafficker namely Joseph Sabora and his team were transporting Twelve(12) Sacks of suspected Narcotic drugs ( Bhang) using five Motor Cycles from the Neighbouring country (Tanzania) to Kenya through Nyametaburo feeder road,” stated an incident report recorded at Isebania Police station.
Additionally, it was discovered that the bags were being transported via motorcycles from Tanzania with the intention of loading them onto a standby Toyota Prado.
“Toyota Prado White in colour which was on standby to carry the same consignment once it was delivered .An ambush was laid by the officers on the said route. When the Motorcycles ferrying the consignment approached and sighted the officers, they fled leaving behind the Motorcycles and the consignment.The Prado also sped,” the report indicated further.
The police officers successfully recovered the five motorcycles and seized the consignment comprising sacks of suspected cannabis, weighing 600 kilograms with a street value of Kshs 18,000,000. These items were duly booked in and kept as exhibits pending the arrest of the owners.
