Martha Karua faults her boss, Raila Odinga, over dialogue

Martha Karua, leader of the Nark Kenya party, has criticized the dialogue initiative between President William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, labeling it a potential trap.

She posted on he official social media handles while asserting that meaningful dialogue requires genuine good faith and must prioritize the best interests of the people.

As a member of the Azimio La Umoja Coalition, Karua cautioned her fellow politicians to tread carefully so as not to hijack the authentic demand for accountability and reforms voiced by Generation Z.

Her sentiments follow an announcement by the Azimio la Umoja Raila Odinga and President William Ruto, who agreed that dialogue is essential to address Kenya’s current challenges.

The decision by the two leaders has seen a backlash from the Gen Zs who have downplayed a possibility of being in any discussion with the executive.

The President stated that a six-day forum, commencing on Monday, will convene to discuss issues highlighted during recent protests.

The forum will comprise of 150 members, comprising 50 youths and representatives from religious organizations, civil society, professional bodies, and political parties.

“We have agreed to provide an opportunity for the people to express themselves and address the grievances affecting our nation,” remarked Odinga, emphasizing this as the pathway to finding enduring solutions, according to the Azimio leader.
