President William Ruto has promised to transform Homa Bay town into a city. If successful, this will make it the sixth city in the Republic of Kenya, following Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, and Eldoret.
Speaking during his visit to the lakeside county on his second-day tour, the head of state expressed his determination to transform the region.
“I am on a mission to transform the country. To achieve this, we must work together and move beyond tribal politics. That is why Homa Bay town will soon be a city,” he said.
President Ruto emphasized his confidence in the newly appointed cabinet members’ ability to drive economic transformation in the country.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to supporting former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in his quest to become the next Chair of the African Union Commission (AUC).
“You saw many heads of state from Africa visit us and confirm their commitment to supporting our candidate, Mr. Odinga, to be the next AUC chair. We believe he is capable of leading the continent,” added the president.
Tomorrow, President Ruto will visit Siaya, where he will also attend the thanksgiving ceremony of CS Energy Opiyo Wandayi.
