RARIEDA: A teacher, Jean Ogol, stood before a Magistrate Court sitting in Bondo Wednesday, facing murder charge of 40-year-old Erick Marwara.
Ms Ogol, a senior teacher at Sangla Primary School in Rarieda sub-county, was arraigned alongside her co-accused, Henry Opiyo.
Erick Marwara had reportedly inherited Ogol, and the two had been living together prior to his death.
The gruesome discovery of the deceased’s body occurred on August 10, 2024, in Matangwe village, Barkowino sub-location in Bondo sub-county.
Foul Play
His body was found hanging from a rope tied to the roof of an unfinished semi-permanent house, raising suspicions of foul play.
Preliminary police reports paint a grim picture, Marwara’s body bore visible injuries on his nose, left leg, right hand, and blood stains on his trousers, indicating a violent struggle.
“It was suspected that he was beaten and killed elsewhere before being hanged inside the unfinished house. His legs were slightly touching the floor,” the report stated.
The body was subsequently transported to Bondo sub-county hospital mortuary for preservation and post mortem examination.
The suspects, who were initially released on a bond of Sh300,000 each, appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate John Nandi on Wednesday, however, they did not take plea because investigating officers requested additional time to complete their investigations and present the file to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution.
The case has been scheduled for mention on September 3, when further developments are expected.
