Police destroy bhang worth Sh13 million in Kisumu

KISUMU: In a significant crackdown on narcotics, the DCI Regional Coordinator for Nyanza, Mr. Lenny Kisaka, oversaw the destruction of Cannabis Sativa valued at approximately Sh13,140,000.

The operation involved a coordinated effort with Kisumu County and Sub County security teams, officers from the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), the Judiciary, and Public Health.

The destruction took place at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital grounds, following a court order from the Kisumu Law Courts.

This order mandated the disposal of 10 sacks of Cannabis Sativa, weighing a total of 438 kg, using an incinerator on-site.

This event underscores the Directorate of Criminal Investigations’ commitment to collaborating with various stakeholders in the fight against the sale, distribution, and consumption of narcotic drugs.
