A murder investigation is underway in Gem Wagai sub-county after the body of a 78-year-old man was discovered in a marram quarry at Wagwer area, Ulamba sub-location in North West Gem location.
The deceased, identified as Bartholomew Obita Odera, was found by villagers yesterday evening, sparking concerns and prompting swift action from local authorities.
Area Assistant Chief, Mr. Fredrick Warinda, reported that the body was discovered naked, raising suspicions that Odera was killed elsewhere and his body dumped at the quarry.
“The matter was reported at Wagai police station, and officers promptly visited the scene,” Mr. Warinda told Kondele News. “The body has been transported to Siaya County Referral Hospital mortuary for preservation, awaiting a postmortem examination.”
Police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the death and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
