Tigania West: Police in Meru County are gathering evidence to uncover the motive behind the gruesome murder of Doris Kathure.
The 22-year-old left her home in Matiru village, Tigania West, Meru County, on September 27 after receiving a call from an acquaintance and was never seen again.
A month later, on October 30, her family received a dreaded call from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Isiolo town, 30 kilometers away. They learned she was dead.
Her family believed Kathure was safe with her aunt and hoped she would return as usual. The postmortem report revealed she was strangled, hit with a blunt object on the head, and objects were inserted into her privates.
Police are examining phone calls, fingerprints, and traces of Kathure’s movements to solve the case.
This incident occurs amid a surge in femicide cases, including the recent killings of three women in Eastleigh.
