Police in Bondo sub-county are investigating the fatal stabbing of a 34-year-old artisanal miner, Ibrahim Ochiel, allegedly over a love triangle at Ndira trading center within Bondo Township location last night.
Ochiel was allegedly attacked by his colleague, 26-year-old Lawrence Oduor, at his rented house in Ndira trading center.
Oduor reportedly stabbed Ochiel in the chest with a kitchen knife, killing him instantly.
Assistant Chief of Ajigo sub-location, Stephen Oloo, informed Kondele News that the incident stemmed from a dispute over a 20-year-old woman, Cynthia Auma.
The woman had recently separated from Oduor and started a new relationship with Ochiel. Oduor is said to have visited their house around 7:30 pm and committed the felony.
Neighbors were alerted by the woman’s screams for help and rushed to the scene, finding Ochiel already dead and Auma bleeding with knife wounds on her shoulder.
They raised an alarm and called the police, but the suspect had fled before they arrived.
The body of Ochiel was taken to Bondo sub-county hospital mortuary for postmortem, and Auma is receiving treatment at the same facility. The police have launched an investigation and a manhunt for the suspect.
