Pain as a man slashes three-month-old baby during a scuffle with the wife

A three-month-old baby is receiving treatment at Busia County Referral Hospital after a attack by a slasher.

The child’s mother, Wilfreshia Onyango, from Nanguma village in Matayos Sub-County, recounted the harrowing incident, explaining that her husband, upon returning home drunk, attacked their house help before turning on her.

Her husband, Colins Ouma Wandera, 42, has a history of attacking her frequently whenever he returns home drunk.

In an interview with Kondele News, Ms Onyango expalined how the the drunk Wandera, after verbally abusing their housemaid, turned on her with a sharp slasher.

Her screams alerted neighbors, some of whom, upon witnessing the scene, wanted to carry out mob justice.

“I screamed to alert the neighbors who came to witness the unfortunate event. They wanted to subject my husband to mob-justice, which I refused because because the damage had been caused and the child was in pain,” she said, showing her own injuries from the previous attacks.

Dr. Sammy Obuhuma, a clinician and GBV focal staff member at Busia County Referral Hospital, confirmed that the baby sustained head injuries from a slasher.

“We received a three-month-old patient with an extensive cut on the head inflicted by a slasher. Currently, the child is in stable condition with an Hb of 7, and we’re conducting radiological investigations,” he said.
