Four robbery suspects to stay longer in remand, Bondo court rules

BONDO: Four men charged with robbery with violence by a Bondo court have been remanded at Siaya GK Maximum Prison.

The accused, Stephen Olango, Kevin Oloo, Felix Ochieng, and Fredrick Otieno, each face three counts of robbery with violence and two counts of causing grievous bodily harm.

When arraigned before Principal Magistrate Erick Malesi, all four pleaded not guilty to the five charges.

The court heard that on April 9, 2025, within Bondo township, the accused, along with others not present in court, attacked Mathias Ndolo, David Ochieng Babu, and Emmanuel Onyango Onduru.

Armed with knives, rungus, and other crude weapons, they robbed the victims of their phones and varying amounts of money before inflicting grievous bodily harm upon them.

Magistrate Malesi ruled that the accused will remain in custody pending a pre-bail report due on May 13th, citing a likelihood of witness interference.

He further noted that the witnesses and victims have requested court protection due to fears for their safety.

The case is scheduled for mention on May 13th.
