KERICHO: The Kericho County Assembly is set to table a notice of impeachment against Governor Erick Mutai, just a day after adopting an ad-hoc committee report exposing alleged fictitious payments to contractors by the county executive.
According to a notice of motion seen by Kondele News, the Members of County Assembly (MCAs) seek to remove Governor Mutai from office through an impeachment process.
“Take note, proposed motion for the removal by impeachment of Dr Erick Mutai as Kericho County Governor,” reads part of the notice formally received by the County Assembly Clerk.

The motion was presented by Sigowet Ward MCA Kiprotich Rogony.
If the motion is admitted and debated, it would mark the beginning of a formal impeachment process, which may result in the governor’s removal from office if the required thresholds are met.
The development follows growing pressure on the executive after the Assembly adopted the report highlighting questionable financial transactions, which the committee described as irregular and lacking proper documentation.
