Police arrest two suspected donkey thieves

KANYONYO: A multi-agency security team operating in Kanyonyo successfully intercepted a lorry transporting 31 stolen donkeys on September 28, 2025.

The vehicle, an Isuzu lorry with registration number KDN 354D, was stopped during the operation, leading to the arrest of two suspects.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the livestock had been stolen earlier from Garsweino Location in Fafi Sub-County.

The suspects and the recovered donkeys were handed over to another multi-agency team based in Ijara.

The two suspects are currently being held at the Masalani Police Station and are scheduled to be arraigned in court tomorrow, Monday, September 29, 2025.

The 31 donkeys remain detained at the station, awaiting identification and handover to their rightful owners.

The National Police Service has commended the high level of vigilance displayed by the teams involved in the operation and reiterated its commitment to protecting the public.
