Police edge Mara Sugar in away match held at Awendo Green Stadium

Police FC secured a vital 1–0 victory over hosts Mara Sugar FC in a closely contested FKF Premier League encounter played today, Saturday, 24 January 2026, at Awendo Green Stadium in Migori County.

The match kicked off at 2:00 pm under dry conditions and a hot afternoon sun, setting the stage for a high-intensity contest. Both sides showed urgency in the opening half, with Mara Sugar pushing for an advantage on home soil while Police FC remained disciplined at the back. Despite several promising moves, the first half ended goalless.

The second half resumed at 3:05 pm with renewed tempo from both teams. Police FC made a decisive tactical move in the 60th minute, introducing three substitutes who injected fresh energy and reinforced the team’s attacking intent.

The breakthrough came eight minutes later when Junior Koutiama found the back of the net in the 68th minute, giving Police FC a crucial lead and silencing the home crowd.

Shortly after taking the lead, Police FC were forced into a change in the 70th minute following an injury to Tobias Otieno, with David Owino coming on as his replacement.

Mara Sugar FC mounted late pressure in search of an equaliser; however, Police FC remained resolute in defence and managed the game effectively until the final whistle at 4:55 pm.

The victory, achieved away from home, earned Police FC three valuable points and underscored the team’s discipline, resilience, and growing consistency in their FKF Premier League campaign.
