Tragedy has unfolded in Kabete Sub-County after the body of a 46-year-old female police officer was recovered from a bushy area in Kagira.
The victim has been identified as Sgt. Gladys Nyaguthe Kirika, who was attached to the Subuiga Police Station in Meru County.
The discovery followed a dramatic turn of events involving a man named Patrick Chege.
Chege was rescued after an apparent suicide attempt and admitted to St. Peters Kinoo Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment for fractures on both legs.
While hospitalized, the suspect reportedly confessed to killing his wife and dumping her body in the Kagira thickets.
Officers from Kabete Police Station rushed to the area and launched a search, ultimately locating the body of the officer.
Investigators noted visible trauma, including head injuries suspected to have been caused by a blunt object, injuries on her left hand, and marks on her legs indicating she had been tightly bound with a rope.
A hammer and a Maasai sword were recovered at the scene and secured as exhibits.
Her identity was confirmed through identification documents, including her official Certificate of Appointment, found during a search of her body.
Scene of Crime Personnel thoroughly processed and documented the area before the body was moved to the PCEA Kikuyu Funeral Home to await a post-mortem examination.
