Sad as police lose fingers after canister detonated on his hands

During a protest against the Finance Bill 2024 in Nairobi, a police officer lost several fingers when a tear gas canister detonated in his hands.

The officer, whose identity remains unknown, accidentally had most of his fingers severed in the incident.

Despite his injuries, he bravely walked towards a police vehicle with his missing fingers and blood flowing profusely.

The protests, attended by many young Kenyans, brought several activities in Nairobi to a halt. The U.S. Embassy responded by issuing a travel advisory to American citizens in Kenya due to the disruptions caused.

There is a planned protest about the Finance Bill of 2024 in the area of the Parliament of Kenya in the Central Business District beginning at 12:00 pm. Organizers have stated that the events are intended to be peaceful.  However, large public gatherings can turn violent at any moment.  It is recommended to remain vigilant and aware of circumstances and avoid large gatherings.  Traffic disruptions are expected.
