How Gen Zs spared me for voting NO! On June 25, Samuel Atandi

Alego Usonga Member of Parliament, Samuel Atandi, shared an intriguing encounter with Gen Z protesters who spared him during the recent parliament invasion.

Mr. Atandi recounted the dramatic events of June 25th when he engaged with constituents at St. Mary’s Ambrose Adeya Adongo in his constituency.

“After the voting session, I retreated to our cafeteria intending to have lunch because the actions of UDA lawmakers had left me quite hungry. The cafeteria is just a few meters from the fence,” he narrated.

As he began to eat rice, he noticed a group of Gen Z protesters approaching his location. “I sensed immediately that things were about to take an unusual turn, so I took drastic action. I removed my shirt, leaving only a vest, and started singing along with the Gen Zs,” he recounted, evoking laughter from the crowd.

“Some of the Gen Zs recognized me and cheered, assuring me that they wouldn’t harm me because they knew I had voted against the bill,” Atandi continued.

He then instructed his bodyguard to leave the parliament premises for safety.

“I told my bodyguard to go and find his own way to safety. It was every man for himself and God for us all,” he added.

Atandi disclosed that he sought refuge in a nearby building before eventually taking a motorcycle home.
