“Bwana Waziri uko area? ,” President William Ruto excited reaction after sharing first official function with CS Wandayi

Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi visited Kirungu Village in Kiriaini Town, Murang’a County today to launch the Last Mile Electricity Connectivity program.

Known for his punctuality, CS Wandayi arrived at the venue well before the scheduled time, ready to oversee the event.

President William Ruto, who arrived later accompanied by Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, was greeted with a warm reception.

In a light-hearted moment that drew laughter from the dignitaries, the President expressed his surprise at Wandayi’s early arrival.

“Hello, bwana Waziri? Umefika uko area—this is your first assignment,” the President remarked, prompting an amused response from those present.

Wandayi’s appointment as Energy CS has been viewed as a testament to the adage of being in the right place at the right time.

A long-time ally of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Wandayi’s close association with the Orange party leader has been instrumental in his political ascent.

His recent appointment by President Ruto highlights a notable shift in political dynamics, reflecting the growing camaraderie between the two leaders.

The Last Mile Connectivity initiative, which aims to extend electricity access to underserved areas, represents a significant step in enhancing energy infrastructure and improving the quality of life for rural communities.
