Cleti Kimaiyo, the no nonsense Siaya Police boss, transferred to Nairobi

Siaya County Police Commander Mr. Cleti Kimaiyo has been transferred back to Nairobi’s national headquarters after a notable one-year tenure.

Mr. Kimaiyo, who took over from Michael Muchiri—now stationed in Kiambu County—has made a lasting impact during his time in Siaya.

Known for his strict law enforcement, he will be particularly remembered for his relentless fight against the illegal distillation and sale of chang’aa, the outlawed local brew.

Remarkably, Mr Kimaiyo will be remembered for his swift action against the terror suspects in Siaya County; within two days, he orchestrated a crackdown on the suspects who had killed a police officer in Mahero Secondary school where a gun was stolen.

Under his leadership, numerous operations were conducted, leading to the arrest and prosecution of many involved in this illicit trade. His efforts significantly curbed the availability of chang’aa in the region.

Beyond this, Mr. Kimaiyo also bolstered patrols across Siaya town, leading to a marked reduction in crime rates. His proactive approach to maintaining law and order has earned him widespread recognition.

While it’s still unclear what role he will assume at the national headquarters, there is speculation that he might replace Adamson Bungei as the new city police boss.
