RARIEDA: Police in Rarieda are looking for a woman who abandoned an infant inside a box by the road side at Ndigwa Market and went away.
The infant later died.
The shocking incident was reported by Naya sub-location Assistant Chief, Victor Otunge who found the body at night around 2200hours.
An incident report indicates that by the time the infant was discovered, it had long died.
“The National Police Service officers went and took the body Madiany sub-county mortuary awaiting autopsy and further identification,” it stated.
The local administrator pointed out that the autopsy will reveal what killed the infant.
“Whether it was killed the abandoned or died after being abandoned. I want to urge all the young mothers to be responsible and avoid this act of abandoning babies. You better take the infant to children’s home rather than subjecting them to harsh conditions,” said the administrator.
