Members of the public lynch a suspect believed to have stolen a motor-cycle

A 45-year-old man was lynched by members of the public last evening after he was found with a stolen motorcycle in Rapenji ‘B’ village, Sigoma-Uranga sub-location, Alego/Usonga sub-county.

The deceased, identified as George Ochar, met his untimely death after the motorcycle was discovered at his home, where he had already begun to dismantle it.

According to Mr. Simon Olwendo, Chief of South West Alego location, Ochar was found with his accomplice, Oduor Nyapoto, when they were caught with the stolen motorbike.

Mr. Olwendo stated that after realizing they had been cornered, the suspects started a fight with the owner of the motorcycle.

An alarm was raised, attracting members of the public who rushed to the scene.

In the ensuing chaos, the irate crowd descended upon the suspects, beating Ochar to death, while Oduor managed to escape.

Confirming the incident, the administrator stated that the police removed the suspect’s body and took it to Siaya County Referral Hospital mortuary for a postmortem as investigations begin.
