Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary (CS) Margaret Ndungu has appointed former radio presenter Sella Ayimba as a Board Member for the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC).
Alongside her, Ibrahim Sane has also been appointed as a board member, both set to serve for the next three years.
This announcement has been welcomed by the media fraternity, as Ms. Ayimba is recognized as a seasoned journalist and radio star who has made significant contributions to the industry.
During her radio career, she worked with reputable outlets including Ramogi FM and Nam Lolwe.
Ms. Ayimba ventured into politics in the last general elections, where she contested for a seat on the MDG ticket but was ultimately defeated by current lawmaker Christine Ombaka.
Additional appointments aimed at enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of service delivery include Arthur Osiya, Oscar Eredi, Nura Mohammed, Grace Kamau, Ruth Ruraa, Nancy Butama, and Elizabeth Chesang, who have been named members of the Selection Panel for the recruitment of nominees for the vice chairperson and members of the Public Service Commission.
In a gazette notice, Victor Munyaka has also been appointed chairperson of the Kenya Animal Genetic Resource for a term of three years, effective October 4, 2024.
Other notable appointments include James Mureu as chairperson of the Micro and Small Enterprises Authority and Donald Murgor as chairperson of the Water Resources Authority, both serving for three years starting October 4, 2024.
Additionally, Silas Jonyo, the former Director of Youth Affairs in the Migori County government under Okoth Obado, will serve as the chairperson of the Council for the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication for three years, also effective October 4, 2024.
