One of the prime suspects in the September 12 abduction and sexual harassment of blogger Bruce John Khajira, also known as Chawa-001, has been arrested at the Lunga Lunga border while attempting to flee to Tanzania.
The suspect, Omar Ali Mohamed, alias Nyanya, has been on the run since the crime.
Omar Ali’s arrest is the result of coordination between the detectives and the Immigration Department.
They were aware of plans to help the culprits escape the country. Forensic evidence placed Omar Ali at the primary and secondary scenes of the incident.
He was also in constant communication with other perpetrators before, during, and after the crime.
Detectives identified a grey Nissan Note, used to abduct the victim. Omar Ali had hired the vehicle on August 20, 2024, and returned it on September 12, the evening after the crime.
The car has been intercepted and detained.
Forensic evidence placed the car at the primary crime scene, a County Government of Mombasa construction site in Bonje Area, where the victim was assaulted.
The vehicle was then tracked to Mwakirunge area, where the victim was dumped.
