Ten die in an accident at Yala bridge-Kakamega County

A devastating road accident on the Kisumu-Kakamega Highway at Iguhu Bridge has resulted in the deaths of 10 people on Wednesday evening.

The crash occurred when a tanker, traveling towards Kakamega, lost control and collided with two 14-seater matatus heading to Chavakali.

The fatal accident, which happened around 6:00 PM, left many passengers injured. Emergency responders quickly transported the injured to Vihiga County Referral Hospital and Kakamega County Referral Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment for various injuries.

According to police reports, the tanker reportedly hit a bump on the road, lost control, and veered into the path of the two matatus. The driver of the tanker fled the scene following the crash, and authorities are currently searching for him.

This tragic accident has raised concerns about road safety along the Kisumu-Kakamega Highway, a route known for heavy traffic and high accident risks. Authorities are urging drivers to exercise caution, particularly near Iguhu Bridge.
