Shock as Rang’ala Girls Bursar robbed Sh500k at the school gate

Police in Siaya County are investigating a daring daylight robbery in which armed men ambushed a St. Francis Rang’ala Girls High School bursar and made away with KSh 500,000 meant for school operations.

Christine Juma had just withdrawn the cash from a Bank branch in Ugunja town and was returning to the school when three armed suspects struck at the school gate.

According to a police report seen by Kondele News, the assailants, armed with pistols, overpowered her and snatched her handbag, which contained the withdrawn funds, along with her personal belongings.

The mid-morning attack unfolded moments after Ms Juma alighted from a private vehicle near the school entrance.

She also lost KSh 3,900 of her own money and her national ID.

Her screams for help were in vain as the suspects sped off in a getaway vehicle toward Kisumu.

Ms Juma, left in shock, was unable to recall the vehicle’s registration details. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, which has left the school community deeply unsettled.
