Police arrest the boda boda rider in Kasipul MP murder

In an intelligence-led operation, detectives have arrested Amos Barasa Kasili in the Kibera Darajani area in connection with the tragic shooting of Kasipul MP, Hon. Charles Ong’ondo Were, which occurred on April 30, 2025.

The arrest follows a comprehensive investigation that forensically linked Barasa to the main suspects and placed him at the scene of the crime on the day of the incident.

Barasa is alleged to have been the rider of the motorcycle—registration number KMFZ 413W, a Bajaj Boxer—that the assailants used to trail the MP’s vehicle and later flee the scene after the attack.

He was found in possession of the motorcycle at the time of his arrest.

Investigations have revealed that Barasa is a habitual offender who poses as a boda boda operator while working with armed criminal gangs.

During interrogation, he reportedly confessed to his role in the crime, stating that he was hired by the main suspects and received Ksh. 50,000 for his involvement.

The recovered motorcycle matches the description of the one captured on CCTV footage near Parliament, seen tailing the late MP’s vehicle shortly before the attack.

Further profiling of the suspect exposed his extensive criminal history, including a previous incarceration at Industrial Area Prison, where he is believed to have met some of the individuals involved in the murder.

Barasa is currently being processed for arraignment as investigations continue.
