Hail Gen Kahariri, the new CDF after demise of Gen Francis Ogola.

NAIROBI: Less than a month after the passing of former Chief of Defence Forces Gen Francis Ogola, President William Ruto has made significant changes within the military ranks. Lt Gen Charles Muriu Kahariri, who previously served as Deputy CDF, has been promoted to the rank of General and appointed as the new CDF, succeeding Gen Ogola.

In addition, Maj Gen George Omenda has been promoted to Lt Gen and appointed as the Vice CDF, transitioning from his role as Commander of the Kenya Air Force. Maj General Fatuma Ahmed has been appointed as the new Commander of the Kenya Air Force, while Maj Gen Paul Owuor Otieno takes over as Commander of the Kenya Navy.

Further promotions include Maj Gen Thomas Njoroge, who will now serve at the National Defence University as the Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration and Finance. Brig Peter Nyamu Githinji has been promoted to Maj Gen and appointed as senior Directing Staff at the Air and National Defence College.

Brig Jattani Kampare Gula and Brig George Okumu have both been promoted to the rank of Major General, with Gula appointed as Director of the Kenya Meat Commission and Okumu as Director of Kenya Ordnance Factories Corporation and Food Processing Factory. Lastly, Brig Samuel Kipkorir has been appointed as the Commander of the Kenya Air Force.
