Uhuru Kenyatta is not your opponent, 55 millions Kenyans are your main headache…Gachagua

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has delivered a scathing rebuke of President William Ruto, dismissing the head of state’s attempts to frame former President Uhuru Kenyatta as his primary political threat.

Calling the tactic a transparent attempt at deflection, Gachagua declared that Kenyatta is not the enemy Ruto faces; instead, 55 million Kenyans are actively determined to vote him out of office in the 2027 General Election.

Addressing Ruto’s repeated assertions that Kenyatta failed to stop his 2022 victory and poses no threat today, Gachagua set the record straight.

He argued that voters did not back Ruto because Kenyatta failed to defeat him, but rather because the electorate had not yet been fully convinced of the warnings regarding Ruto’s leadership style, economic policies, and governance track record.

According to Gachagua, the current administration’s actions over the past few years have now proven those warnings entirely accurate, rendering any further persuasion from the former president unnecessary.

Gachagua emphasized that the President’s true opposition spans every corner of the nation. The real ballot-box battle will be waged against overburdened payslip holders, struggling business owners, patients left without accessible healthcare, parents unable to afford school fees, and young people targeted by state overreach.

Pointing to recent public hostility in places like Olkalou and Embu, he warned that financial inducements will no longer alter voter resolve, describing past political unrest as merely a “dress rehearsal” for the upcoming election cycle.

With opposition leaders actively working to select a single, unified candidate for 2027, Gachagua advised the administration to start writing its handover notes, summarizing the mood of the electorate with a blunt Italian warning: “Il tuo destino è segnato”—your fate is sealed.
