In a fiery address, Obungu Owich, Chairman of the Bunge la Wananchi caucus, unleashed a torrent of criticism aimed at the proposed allocation of a whopping Sh697 million to the office of First Lady Rachel Ruto.
Declaring it a “heavy load” on the people’s shoulders, Owich minced no words in denouncing what he deemed as lavish spending by the Kenya Kwanza government.
Addressing journalists after a meeting with Siaya Bunge la Wananchi officials, Owich castigated the government’s penchant for squandering resources.
“We were promised a hustler government, yet here we see the president himself strutting in shoes worth a millions of money! And don’t get me started on the First Lady’s office, gobbling up over Sh600 million. What’s the message here for hardworking Kenyans?” thundered Mr Obungu.
But Owich didn’t stop there. With veins pulsating, he demanded an equitable distribution of development projects across all regions. “Listen up, government! It’s your duty to ensure every corner of this nation gets its fair share of progress, no matter who’s in power,” he roared.
And then came the punches. Owich took a swing at the government’s hiring practices, particularly within the teaching sector. “MPs are reportedly playing Santa Claus with teacher employment letters, doling them out like candy. What’s next? A lottery for jobs? I’ve seen Junior Secondary School (JSS) teachers from Uasin Gishu crying foul, and let me tell you, it’s gut-wrenching. Corruption has hit a new low!” he bellowed.
With a rallying cry, Mr Owich urged his fellow countrymen to stand together, transcending tribal lines. “Enough is enough! Let’s embrace unity and brotherhood. Kenyans, wake up! At this rate, we’re sailing solo,” he concluded, his words echoing through the hearts of the majority.
