Sad state of affairs as police ferry body of a dead man on motorcycle.

WEST POKOT: A poignant image captured in West Pokot depicts a police officer solemnly transporting the body of an unidentified man using a motor cycle.

Clad in military attire, the officer’s burden is heartbreakingly evident as the lifeless figure is carried, resembling a piece of luggage, with its hind limbs suspended.

This grim scene unfolds as a last resort, as revealed by a police incident report obtained by Kondele News.

According to the report, the Local Assistant Chief, Michael Loreng, alerted authorities to the discovery of a body retrieved from River Chesra on May 8th.

The recovery operation took place near Kilimnyang village in Endough Ward. The report details, “The body of an unknown African male adult, approximately 60 years old, was retrieved today, 9th May 2024, at 0940 hours, after the floods subsided. It is suspected that the deceased may have drowned upstream at an unknown location and was carried downstream, where he became entangled in a tree branch.”

Photographs of the scene were taken, and the body was subsequently transferred to Kapenguria County Referral Hospital mortuary, pending identification and postmortem examination.
