DP Rigathi Gachagua switches on his phone and returns to limelight.

After days of silence and his phone switched off, making him unreachable even to the President, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has resurfaced in full force.

The self-proclaimed man of truth made a public appearance today at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Endarasha, Nyeri County.

During his absence, speculation swirled regarding the strained relationship between him and President Ruto, as well as the reasons behind his silence.

Social media, which had been dormant, suddenly burst back to life, with some of his perceived detractors taking advantage of the vacuum.

Questions arose about what could have led the second in command to maintain such a conspicuous silence, especially amidst significant political developments.

His absence was notable during recent events such as the tree-planting exercise led by President William Ruto, as well as the departure of President Museveni following his three-day visit.

Raila Odinga

Instead, it was opposition leader Raila Odinga and Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen who saw off the visiting head of state.

The silence extended to his social media accounts, with reports suggesting that his phone line had also been inactive.

Notably, he refrained from commenting on the ongoing political developments in his Mount Kenya stronghold, including the recent gathering in Limuru, dubbed Limuru III, where several politicians convened to form the Haki Coalition aimed at advancing the region’s interests.

Accompanied by Kieni MP Njoroge Wainaina, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was warmly welcomed upon his arrival at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Endarasha, Nyeri County, on May 19, 2024.
