Pictures of Deputy President William Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto riding on the same bus with American President Joe Biden and Jill Biden have sparked excitement among many Kenyans online.
President Ruto, who is currently on a Head of State visit to the US, updated his Facebook page with images of the four of them riding in one of the executive buses, garnering hundreds of thousands of views online.
His visit to the US has resulted in the country receiving significant benefits from the world superpower.
The United States has committed $4.9 million (approximately Ksh642 million, based on prevailing conversion rates of $1 equaling Ksh131) in new funding for Kenya and other East African countries to enhance cooperation and coordination in combating international criminal networks and holding criminals accountable.
Kenya has also received Sh291 million to improve its prisons and Sh924 million for the modernization and professionalization of the National Police Service.
Additionally, Sh5.2 billion has been allocated for Democracy, Human Rights, and Governance programming, Sh198 million for supporting electoral reforms ahead of the 2027 elections, and Sh561 million for anti-corruption initiatives.
Furthermore, the country has secured Sh477 billion for the construction of a six-lane Dual Nairobi-Mombasa carriageway, which is expected to reduce travel time to 4.5 hours.
An investment plan of Sh22.8 billion with Coca-Cola is anticipated to create over 3,000 jobs, while Microsoft is poised to invest over Sh130 billion for AI models and research, including in the local Kiswahili language.
