Angry mob kill a suspect in Mt Elgon

MOUNT ELGON: Police are investigating the death of a 30-year-old man in Mt. Elgon, Bungoma County, who succumbed to injuries after being attacked by a mob on allegations of theft.

The victim was reportedly beaten by locals and later died while receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.

Authorities confirmed they are treating the case as murder and have launched investigations to identify the perpetrators.

This incident adds to the growing list of mob lynching cases across the country, with police warning that as many as three people are killed daily in such attacks. In some instances, victims have been falsely accused, with investigations revealing deeper motives such as land disputes or personal vendettas.
