Siaya Stadium to be named after Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, Gov Orengo.

Siaya Governor James Orengo has broken the silence on the naming of the Ultra-modern Siaya Stadium, set to be unveiled in August.

Speaking to the press in his office, Mr. Orengo announced that the committee has decided to name the new facility after Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, the founding Vice President of Kenya and father of the ODM leader, Raila Odinga.

“After careful consideration, we have proposed to name the Stadium after Jaramogi Oginga Odinga. However, this decision is not final. We will conduct public participation and officially request the family’s approval before proceeding with naming the stadium after their late patriarch,” said Mr. Orengo.

Earlier, unconfirmed rumors indicated that the facility would be named after the first governor of Siaya, Cornel Rasanga.

The stadium will be one of the best in the Western region, with a seating capacity of 20,000.
