Late CDF Francis Ogolla honored posthumously for great service

The late former Chief of the Defence Forces, General Francis Omondi Ogolla, has been posthumously honored for his exceptional service to the nation.

General Ogolla was commemorated with a miniature sword, symbolizing his dedication and sacrifice, which was received by his son, Joel Ogolla.

Enlisted into the Kenya Air Force as a cadet in 1984, General Ogolla graduated in 1985 and dedicated his career to serving his country. Tragically, he, along with nine other senior officers, lost their lives in a plane crash on April 18 while on official duty in the North Rift region.

During the Kenya Air Force’s 60th Anniversary celebration, attended by the Head of State, the late General Ogolla was remembered as a patriot who served his nation with unwavering commitment and diligence.

His death shook the nation when President Ruto announce the chilling news of his demise; “I am deeply saddened to announce the passing of General Francis Omondi Ogolla, the Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces (CDF),” President William Ruto announced to the nation a few minutes after chairing a National Security Council Meeting in Nairobi.

Other officers who died along the CDF and Sgt Omondi are; Maj George Benson Magondu, Capt Hillary Litali, Brig Swaleh Saidi, Col Duncan Keitanny, Lt Col David Sawe, Capt Sora Mohamed, Snr Sgt John Kinyua Mureithi, and Sgt Rose Nyawira
