Gang kills receptionist and steal alcohol in Kisumu

KISUMU: A gang of five men armed with pangas and other crude weapons raided a restaurant in Holo, Kisumu County, on the morning of February 23, 2026, killing one and left others with life threatening injuries.

The attackers killed the receptionist, Edwin Kosgei, and injured three other employees, including the security guards.

After the killing, the gang looted the premises and escaped with a large quantity of alcoholic drinks.

Police arrived shortly after the incident and moved Kosgei’s body to the mortuary for an autopsy. No arrests have been made yet, but detectives are pursuing leads.

The attack has sparked anger in the Holo community, with residents demanding that police take action against a rising wave of violent crime in the area.
