Chicken thief escape death narrowly in Ugunja

UGUNJA: A man narrowly escaped death after a mob attacked him at Uholo location in Ugunja sub-county for allegedly stealing two chickens.

The suspect, identified as Fredrick Odhiambo, reportedly broke into a home and accessed the chicken pen, making off with two chickens.

However, his crime was discovered when a young boy spotted him and raised an alarm, alerting the locals.

Responding swiftly, the enraged locals entered the compound and found Odhiambo in possession of the stolen chickens.

According to an incident report obtained by Kondele, officers from Ugunja police station arrived at the scene to find Odhiambo apprehended by the public.

The report indicated that Odhiambo had trespassed into John Olunga’s compound, cutting the fence to access the chicken house.

The mob, fueled by anger, subjected Odhiambo to a violent beating, resulting in injuries to his head and hands. He was later rushed to Ambira sub-county hospital for medical treatment as investigations into the incident continue.

The incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of vigilante justice and the importance of upholding the rule of law in addressing criminal activities.
