Former Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama expressed disappointment after his team, CF Montreal, missed out on crucial three points in a home match against the New York Red Bulls in the Major Soccer League earlier today.
Wanyama came on as a substitute in the 72nd minute but was unable to convert any opportunities as Montreal settled for a 2-2 draw.
Montreal had initially taken a 2-0 lead with goals in the 11th minute and just before halftime courtesy of Kwadwo Opoku.
However, they faltered in the second half, allowing NYRB to stage a comeback. NYRB scored in the 61st minute through Wikelman Cormona and completed their comeback with a goal in the 87th minute by Julian Hall.
The draw leaves Montreal in 12th place on the league table with 19 points from 18 matches, heightening the pressure on coach Laurent Courtois.
Courtois has been vocal about his desire to lead the team back to consistent winning form amid a challenging season where Montreal has only managed two wins in their last 15 league games.
Next up for Montreal is an away fixture against Colorado on Sunday afternoon, where they will aim to improve their standings and keep their playoff hopes alive in the MLS.
