Why Harambee Stars dropped in the latest FIFA ranking

In the latest FIFA ranking released on Thursday by the World football governing body, FIFA, Kenya has dropped one place to 108th globally.

This slight decline comes after a previous climb of four places to 107th in April, where they were ranked 24th on the continent.

The recent drop could be attributed to their performance in two World Cup qualifiers held in Malawi due to stadium issues back home.

During these qualifiers, Kenya managed a 1-1 draw with Burundi and held African champions Ivory Coast to another draw.

These results place Kenya fourth in Group F with five points after several rounds of qualification matches.

Meanwhile, the Kenya U23 team is gearing up for the COSAFA Cup in South Africa next week, having been invited to participate after Malawi backed out.

Placed in Group B, they will face Zambia, the Comoros, and Zimbabwe, starting with a match against defending champions Zambia on June 27th.

On the global stage, Argentina continues to lead the FIFA rankings, followed by France and Belgium in second and third places respectively.

In Africa, Morocco retains the top spot, with Senegal and Egypt following closely in second and third places.
