Gen Z demonstrators gathered today to pay tribute to their fallen comrades who lost their lives during the protests on Tuesday, June 25.
Clad in black and white, the youths lit candles in solidarity, singing songs to honor those who passed away and wishing a speedy recovery to those still hospitalized.
“You were brave, your voices were heard, and the mission was accomplished. You are forever in our hearts, gallant soldiers,” remarked Irene Wanja, who mourned the loss of a friend during the June 25 demonstrations at the parliament.
According to police reports, at least six individuals lost their lives during the #occupyparliament protests, although human rights organizations argue that the actual number may be higher, with most deaths attributed to gunfire.
President William Ruto confirmed that 123 people are currently receiving medical treatment in various health facilities due to injuries sustained during the protests.
In response, Gen Z activists are fundraising to cover medical expenses and provide a dignified farewell for the deceased demonstrators.
