Police arrest a man behind police attack in Bondo, recorded on a viral video

Police and the DCI in Bondo sub-county have launched a manhunt for suspects involved in the assault of a police officer, an incident captured in a viral video that has sparked varied reactions online.

According to an update on the DCI official Facebook page, one person has already been apprehended, with efforts ongoing to locate the remaining suspects.

“A manhunt is underway for individuals who yesterday stormed Bondo Police Station armed with crude weapons, including stones, catapults, slings, petrol bombs, and other concealed weapons. This resulted in serious injuries to several police officers and extensive damage to property,” read the DCI post.

The statement continued, “One of the suspects, Sostine Otieno, who was recorded attacking a police officer and leaving him injured on the ground before robbing him of his anti-riot gun (launcher), has been arrested. The firearm has been recovered, and efforts are underway to apprehend his accomplices who have been identified.”

The injured officer, stationed at Sigomere Police Station, is currently in critical condition at a hospital in Kisumu, having been referred there for treatment.
