“I have decided to dismiss all Cabinet Secretaries and the Attorney General, with immediate effect, except for the Prime Cabinet Secretary and the CS for Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Affairs. The Office of the Deputy President remains unaffected,” he stated.

The President explained that this move aims to establish a broad-based government to accelerate essential, urgent, and irreversible program implementations. These priorities include addressing the national debt, boosting domestic revenue, expanding employment opportunities, eliminating bureaucratic redundancies, and combating corruption.

According to Ruto, these reforms will streamline the government, making it leaner, more cost-effective, and efficient.

“During this transition, government operations will proceed uninterrupted under the guidance of Principal Secretaries and other relevant officials,” he assured.

These cabinet changes mark the second reshuffle since Ruto assumed office in September 2022. In October 2023, just a year ago, Mudavadi was appointed as a Cabinet Secretary.
